Are egg donors required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine?

SRM will requires all egg donors to have received at least the first Covid-19 vaccine before SRM will begin the egg donor screening process.

SRM has made this decision based on the following:

• The FDA’s recent, formal approval of the Pfizer vaccine.
• There is agreement by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and other institutions that the vaccine is safe and effective.
• Nationwide availability of Covid-19 vaccines; known and potential benefits of vaccination outweigh any known or potential harms.
• The available evidence indicates that the vaccine does not lead to loss of fertility, miscarriage, or congenital anomalies.
• Potential cancellation and losing compensation for testing positive for Covid-19 prior to egg retrieval.

What are the benefits o​​​​f being an egg donor at SRM?

You will be compensated $8,000-$10,000 after each completed donation cycle for your time and commitment. We will partially compensate you for your time if, for some reason, SRM cancels your cycle after you have started medication.

Who can become an egg donor at SRM?

Egg donors are people just like you – committed to helping another family achieve their dream of parenthood.

Egg donor criteria includes:

• Between the ages of 21 and 32
• Has a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• Has a BMI between 18 and 30
• Does not use nicotine products and does not do recreational drugs

Can I be on birth control while being an egg donor?

Yes! If you have an IUD, the patch, vaginal ring, tubal ligation, or use any form of oral contraception, you can become an egg donor at any time. However, if you currently use the arm implant or Depo Provera injection as contraception you will need to switch or stop.  

Does donating eggs affect my ability to have children in the future?

No, the egg donation process has no impact on future fertility.

How long does the screening and donation process take?

This answer is different for every egg donor. For most donors the process lasts for 3-6 months, but the amount of time it takes to complete the screening and donation process is dependent on the donor’s availability.
