Through the donation process, you receive a generous compensation package for your effort and the time you spend at our clinic, as well as the loss of income you would have made for that time. Taking time off work or from your studies is important, so based on European legislations and the law, we offer full compensation.
Other than the compensation package, you also benefit from multiple medical exams that cost hundreds of Euros if you were to do them on your own. These tests can help you understand a lot about your health and include:
Another great way that you benefit from fertility testing is that if any medical indications are shown in the tests, you will get a free consultation from our doctor to help you understand how you can mitigate the problem and stay pregnant in the future.
Last but not least, you get to be the person that helps another woman become pregnant and hold a baby in her arms. Without you this will be impossible for many women.
The process is completely safe, and has no effect on your fertility in the future. We monitor you closely throughout the entire process to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Since the medication is only taken for a few days, there is no disruption to your menstrual cycle after the egg collection.
Women are born with millions of eggs, which is far beyond what they will need in one lifetime. Some women happen to have a lower number of eggs, so we run a fertility check called Anti Mullerian Hormone test (AMH), to make sure that you are in a position to become a donor. If your fertility is low, you would not be considered to proceed with egg donation. However, you will still be partly compensated for the loss of income and your time.
Many women now, are ready to have children at a much later age due to careers. Women of greater age tend to have more issues with their fertility and ovaries. Other reasons:
The process in Cyprus is fully anonymous by law, therefore your identity is always kept secret. At the same time, the donor is never given the identifying information of the recipients.
However, you have the opportunity to also become a non-anonymous donor, which means that we can give your oocytes to patients in other countries that require identifiable donors, such as the United Kingdom. Being non-anonymous means that if the child is aware they were conceived using donor eggs and once they become 14-18 years old, according to the country, they can request the identifying information of the donor.
If you do not live in Cyprus, 95% of the process explained below will be done in your own country. You will only have to come to Cyprus for the final “Egg Donation” stage which only takes a few hours. You can return home as early as the next day, stay overnight, or if you would like to stay for longer and enjoy some time in Cyprus, that is entirely up to you.
Step 1 - Appointment
The process starts with a short phone call with one of our dedicated coordinators, to walk you through the entire program, answer any questions you may have and collect your medical history.
Step 2 - Examination and Bloodwork Check
You will then visit one of our doctors near the area that you live for a small examination and bloodwork to check if you are a good candidate for egg donation.
Step 3 - Preparation
If all the tests look good, the doctor will give you instructions to prepare your ovaries for donation. Your treatment will mainly include birth control and a very small and painless injection done once a day for 9-10 days. These injections are very similar to the insulin injections that diabetics take every day. We will guide you throughout the entire process, so you have nothing to worry about.
Step 4 - Check-up
As you get closer to the donation date, you will visit the doctor for a final check-up to make sure that everything is going well and you are ready for the donation.
Step 5 - Egg Donation
Once you are ready for donation, you will come to the clinic one last time for the egg donation. After the egg collection, you should rest for 2-3 hours and then you can go back to your regular schedule.
