Frequently Asked Question for Egg Donors at Eggsplore the Possibilities

What are the eligibility requirements to become an egg donor?

Wondering if you've got the right stuff to be a donor? We have some basic requirements to ensure a smooth and safe journey for everyone. Think healthy BMI (less than 30), regular cycles, and a clean bill of health (no smoking or drugs!). Age-wise, we typically look for amazing women between 21 and 32 (but you can donate up to age 34!). For all the nitty-gritty details, check out our website or give us a call!

What happens after I submit my pre-screen questionnaire?

The pre-screen questionnaire is egg-stra easy! Answer a few quick questions about your age, BMI, health, and lifestyle. If you meet the basic requirements, you'll automatically receive a link to start the full application where you can shine! In some cases, our team may need to take a closer look at your answers, but we'll keep you updated every step of the way.

How long will it take me to complete the application?

Most donors zoom through the application itself in a week - or less! Family history might add a sprinkle of extra time, but we're all about getting you on our donor list ASAP – because the world needs your egg-ceptional help!

Can I save my application and come back to it later?

Egg-xactly! We get it. Building your egg donation application can be an egg-straordinary task! No worries if you need to take a break! Just click save and your progress will be safe and sound.  Come back and keep going whenever you're ready!

How far back do I need to go in my family health history?

Think three generations strong! This isn't about uncovering ancient mysteries, but gathering health info for your siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins and even your own little ones (if you have them). The more details you provide, the better we can understand your potential genetic background as an egg donor.

What happens after I submit my application?

You hit submit, we hit review! Our egg-sperts will be busy checking your application to make sure you're a great fit for our program. Within 3-5 business days, we'll be in touch to schedule a consultation to discuss the donor process in more detail – or to request any additional information we might need.

In the consultation, we'll also review your application together and answer any questions you have. We'll also send you a lab slip to get your blood drawn locally. While we wait for your results, you can work on polishing your profile!

Can I be an egg donor if I’m adopted?

We do allow egg donors on our list who are adopted. However, you may have a harder time being matched if you have no family medical history.

Are there any long-term risks to donating my eggs?

While there are currently no long-term, large-scale studies on egg donors, that doesn't necessarily mean there are risks. Here's what we do know: There are no known long-term complications. Studies haven't found any evidence of health problems arising specifically from egg donation. Fertility not affected: Donating eggs doesn't impact your own ability to get pregnant in the future.

Do I get to know the outcome of my cycle?

Absolutely! Our egg donors love getting to know that what they did MATTERED. Donors love to see the families they created, and to know they're living their happily ever after!

How many times can I donate my eggs?

Egg donors are our rockstars! We want to keep them healthy and happy, so like a rockstar tour, there's a limit. ASRM Guidelines allow donors to do 6 cycles in their life to keep things safe and sound for everyone.

Do I have to take birth control?

This will vary based on the fertility clinic’s protocols, with most clinics requiring it leading into the cycle.

If you prefer not to take birth control, we're happy to request this on your behalf with your cycle if you'd like!

If I have an IUD, will I have to remove it?

We understand some donors might have an IUD. The good news?** Many clinics are now comfortable with egg donors keeping their IUDs in place during the cycle!**

Here's the catch: Clinic protocols can vary. To ensure a smooth process, we'll work with you to determine the best course of action based on the chosen clinic's specific guidelines.

Will I have to travel for the cycle?

Many donors travel for 1-2 weeks to the intended parents' fertility clinic for monitoring appointments during their cycle. But we get it – you have a busy life too!

To make things easier, we offer flexibility! On your application, you'll be asked if you'd prefer local monitoring at a clinic near you (if available). This option minimizes travel and allows you to keep your routine during the donation process.
